First Line: More precious by far than an exquisite pearl
Last Line: For, my wonderful friend, I have you.
Subject(s): Friendship

More precious by far than an exquisite pearl
Is a friend -- one tested and true;
Life gives nothing better to mortal below
Than a friend who will love and trust you.

A rose may be sweet, but I hold not more so
Than a friend -- one who ever is near
To shield you, protect you, and ah, what a joy,
To cheer you when some days are drear.

The sky may be dark -- the sun may not shine,
My frail barque may be tossed, it is true;
But I shall not be troubled, I shall not repine,
For, my wonderful friend, I have you.
