Subject(s): Art & Artists; Hearts; Silence; Tears

In silence lie the snowy keys
Thy fingers woke to sound,
As, leafless, stand the sleeping trees
In winter's frozen ground.

Yet deathless is that perfect art;
The keys may voiceless lie,
But music that hath stirred the heart
In ours can never die.

Thou bringest to us from the skies
The music of the spheres,
And as its last soft wavelet dies,
We thank thee . . . with our tears.
