TO MRS. AMY BEACH, by JOHN LAWSON STODDARD Poet's Biography First Line: In silence lie the snowy keys Last Line: We thank thee . . . With our tears. Subject(s): Art & Artists; Hearts; Silence; Tears | ||||||||
In silence lie the snowy keys Thy fingers woke to sound, As, leafless, stand the sleeping trees In winter's frozen ground. Yet deathless is that perfect art; The keys may voiceless lie, But music that hath stirred the heart In ours can never die. Thou bringest to us from the skies The music of the spheres, And as its last soft wavelet dies, We thank thee . . . with our tears. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...BANGLA DESH: 2.
