LOST KITTEN AT THE DOOR, by EMILY TEMPLETON First Line: Purr softly ... / for surely someone Last Line: Will put the others of her little brood to bed! Subject(s): Mothers | ||||||||
Purr softly ... For surely someone will decide to let you in. Cold loneliness is not for such a gentle thing As you. And then besides, a worried Mother Cat Is counting out her little brood and praying that A kindly soul somewhere will stroke your tiny paw And let a bit of friendly fire her truant kitten thaw! Purr softly ... For folks will know you're weary of your little fling, And soon their altruistic hearts will start to sing Because of you. A problem kitty though you be, You soon will doze in undeserved security; And Mother Cat, her final pussy prayer a-said, Will put the others of her little brood to bed! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...MY MOTHER'S HANDS by ANDREW HUDGINS CONTINENT'S END by ROBINSON JEFFERS IN THE 25TH YEAR OF MY MOTHER'S DEATH by JUDY JORDAN THE PAIDLIN' WEAN by ALEXANDER ANDERSON BLASTING FROM HEAVEN by PHILIP LEVINE BOADICEA; AN ODE by WILLIAM COWPER METAMORPHOSES: BOOK 8.
