FOR SOME ... FOR ME, by FLORENCE KRIEG THIES First Line: For some the scintillating brightness of the city streets Last Line: Sentinels of the deep, yet tell-tale night. Subject(s): Likes And Dislikes | ||||||||
For some the scintillating brightness of the city streets, The pulse of human life, that ebbs and flows; Excitement, love, the feverish rush for joy -- A lethe, to obliterate grim woes. For me the dusky quiet of a country road, With palpitating darkness close around; The whirr of sleepy thrushes winging home, the feel of velvet dust upon the ground. For me a lonesome road that leads up distant hills, Where moonbeams bathe the path in pools of light, Where lacy-foliaged trees stand spectre-like, Sentinels of the deep, yet tell-tale night. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...FORGOTTEN IS DECEMBER by MARY HELEN PAGE REVERSING THE FIGURES by JOHN GODFREY SAXE THE EMBARRASSING QUESTION by AMOS RUSSEL WELLS I LOVE A WOOD by DOROTHY WHITTINGTON SWEET-TOOTH WITCH by JAMES RICHARD BROUGHTON IN LATE FALL by PHILIP S.
