THOUGHTS AT CHRISTMAS, by GRACE MATHEWS WALKER First Line: What do I get out of christmas? Last Line: Are god's gifts I hold most dear. Subject(s): Christmas; Nativity, The | ||||||||
What do I get out of Christmas? Thoughts that last the whole year through! The star, the song of an angel, Joseph, Mary, and the Christ child too, The Shepherds watching by their flocks, Three wise men from a country far, The patient waiting for a King, The quiet of a lonely hour, The spire of a country church Towering upward to the skies, The chiming of the Christmas bells, Cheer and laughter, dreams and sighs, The inner searching for a faith, Longing for a cleaner heart, The silent passing of a friend; All, of Christmas, are a part. Memories of a Christmastide, Faces in the firelight's glow, Throngs of people, looking forward, Happy, weary as they go. So I have the thought of Christmas In my heart throughout the year, Home and loved ones, truer friendships Are God's gifts I hold most dear. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...DIFFERENT VIEWS; A CHRISMAS DUET by JOSEPH ASHBY-STERRY AN UNMERRY CHRISTMAS by AMBROSE BIERCE CHRISTMAS IN CHINATOWN by AUGUST KLEINZAHLER CHRISTMAS TREE by JOHN FREDERICK NIMS ISAIAH'S COAL by JOHN FREDERICK NIMS SOUNDS OF THE RESURRECTED DEAD MAN'S FOOTSTEPS (#3): 1.
