NEST OF DREAMS, by HELEN FIELD WATSON First Line: Sometimes one has a dream within a dream Last Line: And what, reality. Subject(s): Dreams; Reality; Nightmares | ||||||||
Sometimes one has a dream within a dream, This makes the outer one seem Real. And always, what we do in sleep Is life, -- until we wake. Then reason enters in To tell us our mistake. I wonder if this state we know so well As life is but another dream, From which we wake at death To learn what reason is And what, reality. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...VARIATIONS: 14 by CONRAD AIKEN VARIATIONS: 18 by CONRAD AIKEN LIVE IT THROUGH by DAVID IGNATOW A DREAM OF GAMES by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN THE DREAM OF WAKING by RANDALL JARRELL APOLOGY FOR BAD DREAMS by ROBINSON JEFFERS GIVE YOUR WISH LIGHT by ROBINSON JEFFERS A MORNING PRAYER (FOR A TEACHER) by HELEN FIELD WATSON |
