First Line: When all the choric peal shall end
Last Line: God may emerge at last.
Alternate Author Name(s): Watson, John William
Subject(s): Faith; God; Mankind; Belief; Creed; Human Race

WHEN all the choric peal shall end,
That through the fanes hath rung;
When the long lauds no more ascend
From man's adoring tongue;

When whelmed are altar, priest, and creed;
When all the faiths have passed;
Perhaps, from darkening incense freed,
God may emerge at last.
