DESIGNS OF GALLANTRY, by ELIZABETH WELDON First Line: My future, once so well-arranged Last Line: I must remember to forget. Subject(s): Love - Complaints; Self | ||||||||
My future, once so well-arranged, You have dramatically changed. I must rearchitect my fate -- Replan my life to motivate My heart's unordered stop-and-go, Reducing it to normal; so, If now and then, if here and there I still must see you, hear you where Our paths may parallel or cross I'll be prepared to feel your loss With lessened shock. I'll shun regret For it has healed no sore heart yet. I'll try to readjust my mind So I'll not see your type or kind In other girls; or note the sweet Your-sort-of-voice of those I meet. I'll definitely reorganize My thinking, sure that with me lies The certain will and drive to make Designs of gallantry or break Me in defeat. While through the days And in my dreams' subconscious haze, I know I must remember -- yet I must remember to forget. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...A CAPELLA by JUAN FELIPE HERRERA AFTER LOOKING UP INTO ONE TOO MANY CAMERAS by HICOK.
