YOUTH WEEPS NOT LONG, by LOIS WELLS First Line: (dreams were not meant to stand the light of day Last Line: Brush not the star dust from her wings of light! Subject(s): Youth | ||||||||
(Dreams were not meant to stand the light of day). Youth weeps not long o'er graves of the departed, Nor lingers long where grief life's brightness mars Her feet have wings to rise above death's portals, Her eyes have power to see beyond the stars. Then get thee gone, thou gray, gaunt ghost of sorrow! Youth knows thee not, nor understands thy plight. Touch not her garments with thy clammy fingers! Brush not the star dust from her wings of light! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...BETWEEN THE WARS by ROBERT HASS THE GOLDEN SHOVEL by TERRANCE HAYES ALONG WITH YOUTH by ERNEST HEMINGWAY |
