THE MOON'S LOVE, by LELAND WEST First Line: The moon told me she loved the night Last Line: The night about her love? Subject(s): Moon | ||||||||
The moon told me she loved the night, I did not think it so Until I saw her smile at him With lovely, mystic glow. She flirts with clouds, she plays with stars, She smiles with sheer delight, And though they love her -- stars and clouds, Her own love is the night. Yet darkly he keeps passing by, And she still smiles above; Will no one ever dare to tell The night about her love? | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...POEM TO TAKE BACK THE NIGHT by JUNE JORDAN THE MOON AND THE SPECTATOR by LEONIE ADAMS FULL MOON by KARLE WILSON BAKER NO MORE OF THE MOON by MORRIS GILBERT BISHOP THE DEPARTURE by DENISE LEVERTOV THE MOON IN GREECE by TIMOTHY LIU EMILY (ON BEING TOLD TO CEASE DAY-DREAMING) by LELAND WEST |
