TO ONE WHO DIED YOUNG, by LOLLY WILLIAMS First Line: You believed with childhood's magnitude Last Line: Here rests a dream, here rests a faith intact. Subject(s): Faith; Belief; Creed | ||||||||
You believed with childhood's magnitude, And all was well. You never saw the feud When old ideals encounter world's demands And come to dust. Your artless, chubby hands Will never strangle hope, nor nurture greed. You'll never know the time the gods recede. How good a thing it is, those candid eyes That saw a truth as truth and lies as lies Will never see the taint of compromise. You'll never be a part of sorrow's pact ... Here rests a dream, here rests a faith intact. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...UNHOLY SONNET 4 by MARK JARMAN QUIA ABSURDUM by ROBINSON JEFFERS GOING TO THE HORSE FLATS by ROBINSON JEFFERS SONNET TO FORTUNE by LUCY AIKEN JONATHAN EDWARDS IN WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS by ROBERT LOWELL RELIGIOUS INSTRUCTION by MINA LOY |
