WITHIN THE OLD JUDEAN GATE, by RUTH WILLIS First Line: In cattle shed, within a manger there Last Line: Then wandered out the old judean gate. Subject(s): Bethlehem, Palestine | ||||||||
In cattle shed, within a manger there, Where Christ was born so many years ago, A land mark stands ... Although I have been where The mountain trail has led to a rim of snow; And watched the tropic sun dip in the sea; Stood in Muer Wood, the base of heaven's wall; And felt the desert's spell cast over me: The most profound significance of all Was centered there in Bethlehem that day I paused at the birthplace -- nobler shrine than Greece! -- Of little Jesus, with bowed head to pray. I asked that love and fellowship and peace Might reign within the hearts grown cold with hate ... Then wandered out the old Judean Gate. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...AT BETHLEHEM: 1.
