ON FLINT ROCK HILLS, by FRANCIS GALATIA YEOMAN First Line: On flint rock hills the twilight lies Last Line: On flint rock hills. Subject(s): Mountains; Hills; Downs (great Britain) | ||||||||
On Flint Rock Hills the twilight lies In lavender for dreaming eyes, With lacy clouds pink-veiled with sun; The crows troop westward one by one And murmurs from the streams arise. A gaunt tree listens to the cries Of distant hounds, the faint wind dies, And now the whip-poor-wills have begun On Flint Rock Hills. The woods close in. A ribbon ties The slender fields of varying size. A thousand sparklers through them run From fire-fly lamps as day is done. The great dome rests its starlit skies On Flint Rock Hills. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...CALIFORNIA SORROW: MOUNTAIN VIEW by MARY KINZIE CONTRA MORTEM: THE MOUNTAIN FASTNESS by HAYDEN CARRUTH GREEN MOUNTAIN IDYL by HAYDEN CARRUTH IF IT WERE NOT FOR YOU by HAYDEN CARRUTH |
