THE MESSAGE OF THE CHRISTMAS BELLS, by MARY YETTER First Line: Of all the days of all the year Last Line: Christ is born -- today! Subject(s): Bells; Christmas; Nativity, The | ||||||||
Of all the days of all the year The one I cherish as most dear Is Christmas Day. From far and near The voice of peace, the song of cheer -- With blessing there, caressing here! No hut or hovel quite so bare But quickening light finds nesting there; No life so low, no heart so sad That this bright day will not make glad. Sweet the bells ring Soft our hearts sing -- Christmas Day is here! Of all the songs that have been sung, Of all the notes, the sweetest rung By silver bells that peal today And in their tender Message say: "Good-will on earth and peace to men --" Exultant note! Sing it again! Glory to God -- the angels shout -- And this, the Song the bells ring out: Sweet the bells ring -- Soft -- our hearts sing -- Christ is born -- today! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...DIFFERENT VIEWS; A CHRISMAS DUET by JOSEPH ASHBY-STERRY AN UNMERRY CHRISTMAS by AMBROSE BIERCE CHRISTMAS IN CHINATOWN by AUGUST KLEINZAHLER CHRISTMAS TREE by JOHN FREDERICK NIMS ISAIAH'S COAL by JOHN FREDERICK NIMS SOUNDS OF THE RESURRECTED DEAD MAN'S FOOTSTEPS (#3): 1.
