GETHSEMANE, by LEANDER M. ZIMMERMAN First Line: When gethsemane looms near us Last Line: "not my will but thine be done." Subject(s): Faith; Gethsemane; Belief; Creed | ||||||||
When Gethsemane looms near us O Thou Blessed Father's Son, May we then say to the Father: "Not my will but Thine be done." Though the cup be one of anguish, May we not the sorrow shun, Rather cry to God contritely: "Not my will but Thine be done." In our prayers and supplications, Selfish pleas may there be none, But in all may we say, "Father, Not my will but Thine be done." Then we'll have God's peace and comfort, In all plans that are begun, And we'll sing to Him, our Father: "Not my will but Thine be done." | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...UNHOLY SONNET 4 by MARK JARMAN QUIA ABSURDUM by ROBINSON JEFFERS GOING TO THE HORSE FLATS by ROBINSON JEFFERS SONNET TO FORTUNE by LUCY AIKEN JONATHAN EDWARDS IN WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS by ROBERT LOWELL RELIGIOUS INSTRUCTION by MINA LOY JUST A THOUGHT by LEANDER M.
