CHANCE, by
First Line: "chance, in whom men start and end"
Last Line: Goddess excellent and best
Subject(s): Luck

CHANCE, in whom men start and end,
Throned on high in Wisdom's place,
Glory to man's work you send.
More the good your presence brings
Than the evil; such a grace
Shines about your golden wings.
When your ruling balance swings,
What it gives endures most blest.
For the pathless and distressed
You have found a guiding way,
In the darkness bringing day,
Goddess excellent and best.
