CHANCE, by ANONYMOUS First Line: "chance, in whom men start and end" Last Line: Goddess excellent and best Subject(s): Luck | |||
CHANCE, in whom men start and end, Throned on high in Wisdom's place, Glory to man's work you send. More the good your presence brings Than the evil; such a grace Shines about your golden wings. When your ruling balance swings, What it gives endures most blest. For the pathless and distressed You have found a guiding way, In the darkness bringing day, Goddess excellent and best. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SPRING LEMONADE by TONY HOAGLAND THE FORTUNATE SPILL by MARILYN NELSON MUCHAS GRACIAS POR TODO by NAOMI SHIHAB NYE SOME SAY YOU'RE LUCKY by GREGORY ORR THE LIFE OF TOWNS: LUCK TOWN by ANNE CARSON OF MONEY by BARNABY (BARNABE) GOOGE TIS A LITTLE JOURNEY by ANONYMOUS |
