I KNOW A NAME, by ANONYMOUS First Line: I know a soul that is steeped in sin Last Line: That will set those lands on fire Subject(s): Religion; Theology | |||
I know a soul that is steeped in sin, That no man's art can cure; But I know a Name, a Name, a Name, That can make that soul all pure. I know a life that is lost to God, Bound down by things of earth; But I know a Name, a Name, a Name, That can bring that soul new birth. I know of lands that are sunk in shame, Of hearts that faint and tire; But I know a Name, a Name, a Name, That can set those lands on fire. Its sound is a brand, its letters flame, I know a Name, a Name, a Name, That will set those lands on fire. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...MYSTIC BOUNCE by TERRANCE HAYES MATHEMATICS CONSIDERED AS A VICE by ANTHONY HECHT UNHOLY SONNET 11 by MARK JARMAN SHINE, PERISHING REPUBLIC by ROBINSON JEFFERS THE COMING OF THE PLAGUE by WELDON KEES A LITHUANIAN ELEGY by ROBERT KELLY TIS A LITTLE JOURNEY by ANONYMOUS |
