LOVING YOU, by ANONYMOUS Last Line: "when lips are only lips, and eyes are only eyes?" Subject(s): Hearts | ||||||||
Loving you so that I would steal if you were hungry; Loving you so that skies grow gray when you are sad; Loving you so that I would die to make you happy, Die with a smile if dying would but make you glad. Loving you so that when we walk in crowded places, Sudden my eyes grow misted with a veil of tears, So that I only see a blur where there were faces; Loving you so that I am swept with bitter fears. When you are late or hurried or a bit impatient; Loving you so that when my head is on your breast, Words do not come and sudden thoughts go all unspoken; Loving you so that just your reaching hands bring rest -- How can I ever let you know the love I bear you, How can I tell you, dear, that true love never dies? When words are only words and hands are only fingers, When lips are only lips, and eyes are only eyes? | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...CARDIOLOGICAL by JOHN FREDERICK NIMS NOCTURNE OF REMEMBERED SPRING by CONRAD AIKEN COZY APOLOGIA; FOR FRED by RITA DOVE TIS A LITTLE JOURNEY by ANONYMOUS |
