LIFE AND WATER, by
First Line: Life is as water, commencing its flow
Last Line: Life is as water; take care how you drink.
Subject(s): Water

Life is as water, commencing its flow
From depths of a hill or driftings of snow,
May lift from the heart of a long-gathered soil
To creep and meander, wind and recoil.
Whatever its fountain, wherefrom its birth,
Its ultimate goal is back in the earth.
At times it sparkles, at times it will steam,
Or lie in the sunshine, basking in dream.
It nurses a blossom, or wastes on a stone,
Delights with its rhythm, chills with its moan,
Ascends as vapor or ripples like rain,
Here it will purify, there it will stain.
It seldom consists of just what you think:
Life is as water; take care how you drink.
