LATE LOVE, by LORNA TALLENT KIDWELL First Line: Serene and calm they were Last Line: "of course. What better time, my dear?" Subject(s): Aging | ||||||||
Serene and calm they were, As only the old can be -- The little old man in his visiting clothes And the little old lady at tea. A romance here, a love affair, That was plain to see -- The look he gave his hostess As she handed him his tea. "Does love come so late -- thus -- in the fall?" Yet void her voice of doubt, of fear. He answered, his head bent close, "Of course.
