THE INTRODUCTION, by AL-DHAHABI First Line: Most noble excellence / whose earnest eulogy Last Line: To where the flowers shone. | ||||||||
Most noble Excellence, Whose earnest eulogy Based on experience Good guidance proved to me: God's recompense be thine For that thou didst confer, And may thy star still shine To guide the wayfarer. What shaft of lightning glowed What raincloud to display! What dawning marked the road To what refulgent day! The breeze sweet fragrance shed To draw my footsteps on: Unerringly it led To where the flowers shone. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SPOON RIVER ANTHOLOGY: COONEY POTTER by EDGAR LEE MASTERS MOTHER TO SON by IRENE RUTHERFORD MCLEOD THE MUSICAL CONQUERERS by PHILIP AYRES THE LAY OF THE OLD WOMAN CLOTHED IN GREY; A LEGEND OF DOVER by RICHARD HARRIS BARHAM BLUEBEARD by RUTH FITCH BARLETT SCARLETT ROCKS by THOMAS EDWARD BROWN THE WELL by THOMAS EDWARD BROWN EPITAPH ON MR.
