THISTLEDOWN: 12. AUTUMN, by CORA RANDALL FABBRI First Line: She kindles fires in every tree and bush Last Line: Then autumn draws her gray hood close and dies. Subject(s): Autumn; Seasons; Fall | ||||||||
SHE kindles fires in every tree and bush The thicket flames with gold and crimsonred To keep bleak Winter far ere she is dead. Thus Autumn fades off in a splendid flush. A fainter, paler sun burns in her skies; Her leaves at last drop off by one, by one Like the dull ashes of the fire that's done Then Autumn draws her gray hood close and dies. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...OUR AUTUMN by ELIZABETH AKERS ALLEN AN AUTUMN JOY by GEORGE ARNOLD A LEAF FALLS by MARION LOUISE BLISS THE FARMER'S BOY: AUTUMN by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD A LETTER IN OCTOBER by TED KOOSER AUTUMN EVENING by DAVID LEHMAN EVERYTHING THAT ACTS IS ACTUAL by DENISE LEVERTOV A PORTRAIT by CORA RANDALL FABBRI |
