SINGING HEART, by N. M. FRIES First Line: Glorious gold of winter sunset Last Line: Tediousness can never bore. Subject(s): Happiness; Hearts; Singing & Singers; Joy; Delight; Songs | ||||||||
Glorious gold of winter sunset Shining through snow covered boughs, Path of gold on ice strewn waters Dashing 'gainst great steamers' prows, Magic rug across the landscape, Glittering with a million tints, Wrapping homesteads of the humblest With a Persian's richest prints. Wealth of nature, all unfolding Down the barren, wintry hill, Spreads for all a costly carpet, Bright with tint of daffodil. We, the poorest of earth's creatures, Wrapped in bright and shining gold, Wealth of princes spread before us, Need we e'er fear winter's cold? Gracious God! To give us beauty Covering even homely things. Need we dread what time may bring us, If we have a heart that sings? If we have a heart for beauty, Appreciation of earth's store, Ugliness can never touch us, Tediousness can never bore. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE APOLLO TRIO by CONRAD AIKEN BAD GIRL SINGING by MARK JARMAN CHAMBER MUSIC: 4 by JAMES JOYCE CHAMBER MUSIC: 5 by JAMES JOYCE CHAMBER MUSIC: 28 by JAMES JOYCE THE SONG OF THE NIGHTINGALE IS LIKE THE SCENT OF SYRINGA by MINA LOY |
