THE LAMENTATION OF RICHMOND; SONNET, by                     Poet's Biography
First Line: Like to a lampe whose flaiminge light is dead
Last Line: Synce my astreas flyght unto the skye
Subject(s): Henry, Prince Of Wales (1584-1612)

Like to a lampe whose flaiminge light is dead
Or as the Rynge whose dyamond is loste
Or as the neast from whence the birds are fledd
Or as the Tree the blossoms quayld with frost

Or as the well when dryed is the springe
Or as the shrine whearein no saynt is lefte
Or as the Cage wheare no sweete bird dooth singe
Or as the Stalke from whence the rose is refte

Or as the Lymmes when life hath taken flight
Or as the Hive the honny had awaye
Or as the Moone eclypsed of hir light
Or as the world deprived of the daye

Such I poore Richmond seene too every eye
Synce my Astreas flyght unto the skye
