Subject(s): Christmas; Nativity, The

You grew in sun and rain.
The weight of snow has lain among your branches.
May breezes frolicked in your foliage.
And now they have stolen away your life
To make an altar for a Christian God.
Your beauty and your fragrance fill our dwelling.
This is the triumph of your life.
Not for you it is to grow old and ragged in winter winds
But to live perfectly forever in our hearts
As a symbol of beauty.
