ETCHING, by GLADYS ELOISE HAMILTON First Line: How shall I best remember this? What way Last Line: Etched on a crystal star, it will endure! Alternate Author Name(s): Hamilton, Eloise | |||
How shall I best remember this? What way Can I devise to keep this hour apart From lesser joys? There is no other day That has half so delighted, thrilled my heart. The loud tumultuous voices of the wind And echoing shouts of waves have called to me, My vision reached to where the air was thinned To blue transparency that joined the sea. And all the voices in the chilled, sweet air Rejoiced above our trysting place; the trees Stood guard lest we be taken unaware And held us gently on their moss-grown knees. The sky shall keep the record! This is sure...
