THE WEAVER, by GLADYS ELOISE HAMILTON First Line: This quiet persian seated at her loom Last Line: I see a quiet persion at a loom. Alternate Author Name(s): Hamilton, Eloise Subject(s): Weaving & Weavers | ||||||||
This quiet Persian seated at her loom With patterned beauty at her fingertips Has lost the freshness of her early bloom And stilled the longing of her eager lips. With patterned beauty at her fingertips She sees a Master-plan take shape and grow; Between her flying hands the shuttle slips, Responsively the vibrant colors glow. She sees a Master-plan take shape and grow... A pattern traced upon no formal chart; Only the worker and the Master know The figures graven on a weaver's heart! A pattern traced upon no formal chart... But day by day remembered, slowly laid Across a timeless warp... a living part Of a predestined blend of light and shade. Long day by day remembered, slowly laid In rich mosaic. The weaver is resigned That life become this perfect thing she made, Her twisted hands lie still... she has grown blind! You see exquisite beauty in my room? I see a quiet Persion at a loom. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...WEAVERS ALL by MINNIE KEITH BAILEY THE WEAVER by CHARLES GRANGER BLANDEN OCTAVES by THOMAS EDWARD BROWN MY HEART WAS ANCE by ROBERT BURNS THE GALLANT WEAVER by ROBERT BURNS THE WEAVER'S DREAM by ALICE CARY ETCHING by GLADYS ELOISE HAMILTON |
