WHEN WE HOLD EACH OTHER, by JOSEPH HOFFMAN First Line: When we hold each other in our arms Last Line: When we hold each other in our arms. Subject(s): Hearts | ||||||||
When we hold each other in our arms, Let us think of those who suffer and languish, Because they dare not clasp each other to their hearts, Because they cannot realize their dreams. As long as men and women cannot live their lives, Our love is in danger. . . . Our lives are in danger. Our love is as nothing if we have no care For those whose hearts still ache To live and love and be loved. Think then of the weary feet And the weightier hearts; Think of the eyes that look far away, That look mad with sadness, And are bright with tears; Think of the swelling breasts Of those who yearn, Think of the arms that ache to clasp. . . . Think of the lips that long. . . . Think of these and kiss me When we hold each other in our arms. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...CARDIOLOGICAL by JOHN FREDERICK NIMS NOCTURNE OF REMEMBERED SPRING by CONRAD AIKEN COZY APOLOGIA; FOR FRED by RITA DOVE LOVE ENTERS MEEKLY AND GOES by JOSEPH HOFFMAN SPOON RIVER ANTHOLOGY: REV.
