SANCTUARY, by JEANNE SHOWERS KNOOP First Line: Let me take once more the trail that leads through forest pines and fen Last Line: From the worries of the world! Subject(s): Sanctuaries | ||||||||
Let me take once more the trail that leads through forest pines and fen, Haunt of beaver, home of deer: Coming not to prey, O brothers, But to flood with nature's peacefulness this weary soul of mine. There is something in the pine trees that can cleanse me and renew me. Standing in serenity, Invoking quiet for the marshland, Like an overture of music they wash grief and cares away. Give me then, one hour of growing in the stillness of the northland, Rhyme my heart with peace and calm, Help me build a sanctuary, Memory's secret place of refuge from the worries of the world! | Other Poems of Interest...RESPITE - 1942 by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN SANCTUARY by LOUISE IMOGEN GUINEY SANCTUARY by JOSIE CRAIG BERRY I HAVE COME REMEMBERING by LORENE BYRNES BURNS MOUNTAIN SANCTUARIES by FELICIA DOROTHEA HEMANS THE FOREST SANCTUARY: PART ONE by FELICIA DOROTHEA HEMANS |
