TO A BLUEBIRD, by EMERSON KROPF First Line: If I were you, o bird of blue Last Line: If I were you! Subject(s): Birds; Bluebirds | ||||||||
If I were you, O bird of blue, I'd make a dreamer's dream come true. My rhymes and songs would be complete: I'd leave the busy plodding street, And soar aloft the whole day through. My songs of love would melt the dew, I'd wake the buds and flowers too; The skies I'd leap on pinions fleet -- If I were you! I'd fill the heights of azure hue With wabbling strains I never knew: -- The gods above would seek retreat; The song of songs would know defeat, My notes would be so wildly sweet -- If I were you! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE LAST WORD OF A BLUEBIRD; AS TOLD TO A CHILD by ROBERT FROST THE FIRST BLUEBIRD by JAMES WHITCOMB RILEY THE BLUEBIRD by WILLIAM P.
