WHILE STARS REMAIN, by MARY SINTON LEITCH Poet's Biography First Line: The swift world changes. Still from sun to sun Last Line: Unchanging shine the everlasting stars. Subject(s): Stars | ||||||||
The swift world changes. Still from sun to sun The heart's young laughter trembles into tears While singing lips fall silent. One by one The hours are blindly gathered to the years. Across the May, on bright boughts consecrate To beauty, lies the shadow of mistrust; Not love itself can hold inviolate The dream from slow corruption of the dust. Only the stars abide: -- imperishable, Forever constant through the inconstant night; Only the stars serene and beautiful; In our unquiet dark their quiet light. Still, still shine on Arcturus -- Vega -- Mars ... Unchanging shine the everlasting stars. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE EPIC STARS by ROBINSON JEFFERS HYMN TO THE STARS by GEORGE LAWRENCE ANDREWS CHRISTMAS TREE by JOHN FREDERICK NIMS CLEMATIS MONTANA by MADELINE DEFREES THE UNCERTAINTY PRINCIPLE by JAMES GALVIN |
