FOG, by CHARLES HENRY MACKINTOSH Poet's Biography First Line: A fog is more than moisture in the air Last Line: Yes, there is more than moisture in a fog! Subject(s): Fog; Haze | ||||||||
A fog is more than moisture in the air, Clouded with cold, like frosty morning breath; It is the sweat of fear, it is despair, It is disaster, it is sudden death. It is the sound of siren and of bell, It is a shout, an echo, and a scream, It is a pilot's nightmare-dream of hell ... And never to awaken from that dream. It is the twisted wreckage of a plane, It is the school bus that derailed a train; It is the shocking cry, "Breakers ahead!" It is the iceberg, and the chill of dread, It is the word unfinished in the log ... Yes, there is more than moisture in a fog! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...BOATS IN A FOG by ROBINSON JEFFERS BOATS IN A FOG by ROBINSON JEFFERS BELLEVUE EXCHANGE by NORMAN DUBIE THE SEA FOG by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN BLOOD by CHARLES HENRY MACKINTOSH |
