Oh! the poppy fields of Sergey Are the reddest red that grows; They have dipped their cups of crimson In the bravest blood that flows. Hearts unstaunched gave blood, and gladly, Hearts on hearts, gave blow on blow For a causewhy tell the reason All the bleeding poppies know! Here the moon in lamentation, With the years will come and go, Making gold the graves in Sergey Where the blood-red poppies grow. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...HUNTING PHEASANTS IN A CORNFIELD by ROBERT BLY THREE KINDS OF PLEASURES by ROBERT BLY QUESTION IN A FIELD by LOUISE BOGAN THE LAST MOWING by ROBERT FROST FIELD AND FOREST by RANDALL JARRELL AN EXPLANATION by JAMES WELDON JOHNSON IN FIELDS OF SUMMER by GALWAY KINNELL MARY AND GABRIEL by RUPERT BROOKE |
