GOING TO BED, by MARIAN MCMUNN First Line: Time for bed and the stairs are dark Last Line: And you can't see nothing-at-all! Subject(s): Rooms | ||||||||
Time for bed and the stairs are dark, And the room is so large and still. You must be brave -- there's nothing there, Nothing under the bed. Nothing at all in the closet door, And nothing behind the blind. If only the pussy could come up, too, Warm and furry and soft -- If only the pussy could come! Nothing at all is very scary, Nothing at all in the dark. If it were light, there would be the walls, Castles and roses and flying birds -- And the small little chair, And the little red table, And the drawers with bright brass knobs. Something has swallowed them all -- all up, And it's something no one can see. Nothing has swallowed them up in the dark -- And you can't see nothing-at-all! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...YOUR NAME ON IT by BRENDA SHAUGHNESSY SOME DIFFERENCES: ROOM AND MOOR by RICHARD WILBUR THE EMPRESS HOTEL POEMS by ANSELM HOLLO CYNTHIA'S ROOM by MRS.
