TWILIGHT APRIL RAIN, by MADELEINE MOSCHENROSS First Line: Comes a sudden rush of music in a melting minor strain Last Line: And the sting that every spring brings when there's twilight april rain! Subject(s): Grief; Solitude; Sorrow; Sadness; Loneliness | ||||||||
Comes a sudden rush of music in a melting minor strain And again I sense the sorcery of twilight April rain ... All the loneliness and longingall the heart hurtall the tears All the burning moods and yearnings of the endless empty years Twist into the silver tangles of a spangled mesh of dreams As with brooding eyes I trace a face within its fitful gleams. Comes a tuning, like the crooning of a thousand wind-kist trees. Oh, my heart is nigh to swooning with love's fierce intensities! Warm red lips and soft arms emptyhoping, groping in the dark, And the quick tears burn my eyelids ... Cupid somehow missed his mark And passed bynor deigned to dickerleaving grieving in his train And the sting that every spring brings when there's twilight April rain! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...IN ABEYANCE by DENISE LEVERTOV IN A VACANT HOUSE by PHILIP LEVINE SUNDAY ALONE IN A FIFTH FLOOR APARTMENT, CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS by WILLIAM MATTHEWS SILENCE LIKE COOL SAND by PAT MORA THE HONEY BEAR by EILEEN MYLES LET ME BE AWARE! by MADELEINE MOSCHENROSS |
