THE BRIDGE, by BENJAMIN FRANCIS MUSSER First Line: Heart, do not falter, though the years are lying Last Line: We spring across from life's clipped hour to life's eternity. | ||||||||
Heart, do not falter, though the years are lying, Even as lengthening shadows, in our wake And the keen flame that burned in us is dying, Even as sunset glow. We must not break Who have come far together, and who take Together this final hill and, just ahead, Our last pontoon which fords the sea of ache And ultimate ill, our little fears unsaid, Our little life rolled up, the pages read Only by Love Divine. Beyond this ridge Stands the Bright Angel who will lead the dead Over that span, that interval, that bridge. Reaching our goal, and singing heartfully, We spring across from life's clipped hour to Life's eternity. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...GLITTERING GATE by BENJAMIN FRANCIS MUSSER OF A CERTAIN POET by BENJAMIN FRANCIS MUSSER PAN IN WINTER by BENJAMIN FRANCIS MUSSER PARADOX by BENJAMIN FRANCIS MUSSER THE ROADS OF MEN by BENJAMIN FRANCIS MUSSER WRECKAGE by BENJAMIN FRANCIS MUSSER CONTINENT'S END by ROBINSON JEFFERS TRANSFORMATION by CARL SANDBURG TROY PARK: 1.
