THE BRIDGE, by
First Line: Heart, do not falter, though the years are lying
Last Line: We spring across from life's clipped hour to life's eternity.

Heart, do not falter, though the years are lying,
Even as lengthening shadows, in our wake
And the keen flame that burned in us is dying,
Even as sunset glow. We must not break
Who have come far together, and who take
Together this final hill and, just ahead,
Our last pontoon which fords the sea of ache
And ultimate ill, our little fears unsaid,
Our little life rolled up, the pages read
Only by Love Divine. Beyond this ridge
Stands the Bright Angel who will lead the dead
Over that span, that interval, that bridge.
Reaching our goal, and singing heartfully,
We spring across from life's clipped hour to Life's eternity.
