UNCHARTED ROAD, by IRENE NILES First Line: Had I turned down that other road Last Line: That any soul may own. | ||||||||
Had I turned down that other road Where guideposts mark each day, Had I paid heed to friendly voice, Abided by a wiser choice, More peaceful now my way! Had I turned down that valley road -- A safer, smoother way -- I would have known no mountain snows Nor felt this wintry wind that blows Upon me here today. But had I gone that level road, Not now would I have known: No mountain-side but has a path, No storm but leaves an aftermath That any soul may own. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...A DISCRETE LOVE POEM by JAMES GALVIN TO A LOUSE, ON SEEING ONE ON A LADY'S BONNET AT CHURCH by ROBERT BURNS CINQUAIN: THE WARNING by ADELAIDE CRAPSEY SECOND OPINION by STEPHEN CUSHMAN THE SPIRIT OF POETRY by HENRY WADSWORTH LONGFELLOW |
