MY TURTLEDOVE IS FLOWN, by JEAN PASSERAT Poet's Biography First Line: Ah! My turtledove is flown Last Line: After her I would be gone. | |||
AH! my Turtledove is flown! Can it be her voice I hear? After her I would be gone. For your mate you sadly moan, I regret a loss as dear-- Ah! my Turtledove is flown! If your love was faithful shown, Mine no less was firm and clear; After her I would be gone! Still your loss you dwell upon, I must grieve each passing year-- Ah! my Turtledove is flown. Since to see her hope is none, Nought can ever bright appear; After her I would be gone. Help remains in death alone, Death I call, nor longer fear-- Ah! my Turtledove is flown, After her I would be gone. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ON THE DEATH OF THULENE THE KYNGE'S JESTER by JEAN PASSERAT THE MOTHER by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON TO SHAKESPEARE by DAVID HARTLEY COLERIDGE PARTED by PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR THE DESERTED PLANTATION by PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR LIFE [AND THE FLOWERS] by GEORGE HERBERT WHERE SHALL THE BABY'S DIMPLE BE? by JOSIAH GILBERT HOLLAND |
