MY TURTLEDOVE IS FLOWN, by                     Poet's Biography
First Line: Ah! My turtledove is flown
Last Line: After her I would be gone.

AH! my Turtledove is flown!
Can it be her voice I hear?
After her I would be gone.

For your mate you sadly moan,
I regret a loss as dear--
Ah! my Turtledove is flown!

If your love was faithful shown,
Mine no less was firm and clear;
After her I would be gone!

Still your loss you dwell upon,
I must grieve each passing year--
Ah! my Turtledove is flown.

Since to see her hope is none,
Nought can ever bright appear;
After her I would be gone.

Help remains in death alone,
Death I call, nor longer fear--
Ah! my Turtledove is flown,
After her I would be gone.
