GREATNESS, by MINERVA WRIGHT ROCKWELL First Line: God is too great to be merely wise Last Line: His beauty fills the earth and skies. | |||
God is too great to be merely wise, He paints the glory of the skies; He teaches birds their caroling, Creates the flowers; endows the spring. In blues and greens, he gowns the seas, In browns and greens, adorns the trees. And for a child's brave, wondering eyes Opens the Book of Paradise. And when each precious day is done, He draws a veil across the sun, Then softly, pointing the deep blue, The moon and stars glow gently through. God is too great to be only wise; His Beauty fills the earth and skies. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...COUSIN NANCY by THOMAS STEARNS ELIOT WRITTEN IN KEATS' 'ENDYMION' by THOMAS HOOD BLACK AND BLUE EYES by THOMAS MOORE SONNET: 106 by WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE NIGHTFALL (1) by WYSTAN HUGH AUDEN HYMN IX by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD |
