A PILGRIM, by FREDERIC FAIRCHILD SHERMAN First Line: Since first I started toward the goal Last Line: Indeed the last one there. | ||||||||
Since first I started toward the goal I often pause and pray For strength as mother said I should When traveling away. And, one by one, my eager friends Who hurried on before Have fallen, and for God I bear The burdens that they bore. So, as I struggle with the weight Of other people's care, I am content if I shall be Indeed the last one there. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...A SAINT by FREDERIC FAIRCHILD SHERMAN A SONG IN SEASON by FREDERIC FAIRCHILD SHERMAN A SONG-DREAM by FREDERIC FAIRCHILD SHERMAN AN ODE: THE MOON by FREDERIC FAIRCHILD SHERMAN APPRECIATION by FREDERIC FAIRCHILD SHERMAN CONFESSION by FREDERIC FAIRCHILD SHERMAN DUSK by FREDERIC FAIRCHILD SHERMAN EXPERIENCE by FREDERIC FAIRCHILD SHERMAN FANCY by FREDERIC FAIRCHILD SHERMAN FOR A COPY OF KEATS'S POEMS by FREDERIC FAIRCHILD SHERMAN |
