THROUGH LENT, by
First Line: I ask to see none else but my poor self
Last Line: At eastertide.
Subject(s): Easter; Holidays; The Resurrection

I ask to see none else but my poor self,
I ask to hear no song but some old prayer,
I ask to taste no other food than grace --
Yet I shall have a feast most rare
At Eastertide.

I need no eyes to see Thy wooden cross.
I need no ears to hear Thy glory told,
I need no lips to kiss Thy garment's hem --
Yet I shall want a heart of gold
At Eastertide.

Oh, let me see the lilies by my road,
Oh, let me hear a word said just to me,
Oh, let me taste the joy of being good,
Then I shall know I've dwelt with Thee
At Eastertide.
