MY LITTLE DAY, by CHRISTINE HAMILTON WATSON First Line: A tiny bit of endless time is mine! Last Line: The golden thread of time to hold my trust. | |||
A tiny bit of endless time is mine! How best can I, a mortal, use this power Placed in my hand? May there be one short hour That stands above its fellows, to combine The worth of all my actions in a sign Of something great! Or, maybe, only dower Of trifling days, that stands at last a tower Built up of hopes to be but simply fine. Whatever life shall give for me to choose, Let me not fill the hour so full of dust That sense of sky dimension I may lose; Yet I must see the devastating rust To keep the shine on little ways, and use The golden thread of time to hold my trust. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...PHANTOMS ALL by HARRIET PRESCOTT SPOFFORD PENISKEE by THOMAS GOLD APPLETON CHRISTMAS EVE by HARRY RANDOLPH BLYTHE TO A FRIEND by HARRY RANDOLPH BLYTHE THE CAMPUS IN VACATION by ANNE MILLAY BREMER THE EMBROIDERESS AT MIDNIGHT by MARY ANN BROWNE THE WANDERER: 1.
