MY SECRET, by LEONE B. WATSON First Line: A few short hours in the new year's dawn Last Line: We might have drained happiness unafraid. Subject(s): Regret | |||
A few short hours in the New Year's dawn, Cold white hours which, as time sped on, Were warmed glowing with a hidden flame of life; A tiny timid flame frozen quickly with our strife. A conflict needing not a name; Each knew it well, so played the game. Yet as we meet now by chance I always feel your cautious glance. There is something in it makes me know If in the distant long ago Our paths in different ways had strayed, We might have drained happiness unafraid. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...DEEP SORRINESS ATONEMENT SONG by GLYN MAXWELL MINOR MIRACLE by MARILYN NELSON A RENUNCIATION OF THE DESERT PRIMROSE; FOR J.
