Break light in golden dust on crystal lake,
O singing morning star! Drench the glad air
With essence thrice-distilled of flowers fair,
Rich fertile field of joyous Eden! Take
A child to kneel at the great throne! Thus spake
Great Gabriel, archangel, once in prayer
Of Daniel sent to wean his heart from care,
Now guiding festival for the Christ's sake.

It is a Christmas Day in heaven above.
They too will greet the Babe of Bethlehem,
In grander way than we. From us to them
Let hearts send up clear sympathy and love.
Some day, some day, we shall be of that band,
And share an angel's Christmas in that land.
