WHATEVER THE STOCK EXCHANGE, by MABEL GILBERT LARIMER First Line: Life will carry me! Astonishment! Last Line: But I am the power that directs my course. Subject(s): Stock Exchange | |||
Life will carry me! Astonishment! Like my surprise when first I learned to float On water. I do not sink. In life my boat Is confidence. I take each new event, Knowing surely, each will life employ. As surely as I live to gain ability, With confidence and poise and gay stability, The world is glad in my self-confident joy; And through my endless struggle now I see, By constant growing and heightening from soil, If I attain to receive the royal oil Of anointing, life will be acclaiming me. To bear me up, will life produce the force, But I am the power that directs my course. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE WALL STREET PIT, MAY, 1901 by EDWIN MARKHAM THE HOROSCOPE POEMS: JANUARY 1ST by ANNE SEXTON AT THE CLOSED GATE OF JUSTICE by JAMES DAVID CORROTHERS PAN IN WALL STREET by EDMUND CLARENCE STEDMAN TICKER TAPE by ELIZABETH KELTY BEITEL POEM TO NEGRO AND WHITES by MAXWELL BODENHEIM CRISPUS ATTUCKS by OLIVA WARD BUSH THE CURB-BROKERS by FLORENCE WILKINSON EVANS ELEGY ON A NORDIC WHITE PROTESTANT by JOHN GOULD FLETCHER CANTICLE OF THE RACE by EDGAR LEE MASTERS |
