JUST boil the hop a little, will you Wah?
I fear it is too strong—it makes me see
Things that have never happened anywhere,
That are not now, and never yet can be.

For instance, out on Broadway, I beheld
An A. D. T. boy running at great speed,
Which, in itself, is quite impossible—
And as he ran he yelled, "I bear a deed,

"Giving the Hippodrome to Lotta Faust,
On one condition—that she bites her name
On the front doorway," and the boy fled on,
While, just behind him, in a purple flame—

Jack Abrams, just from Luna Park, appeared,
Waving a treetoad and a keg of nails,
And shouting "Buy my patent, people, please—
My new invention, called Self-Filling Jails!"

Loud cries of "Oh, you kid" rang in my ears,
And fat Sam Austin thundered down the street,
Pursued by six blue Amazons. He dodged,
And hid behind the copper on the beat.

"Protect me, Officer," he cried. "These girls
Say I am Cupid, come to life, and they
Have chased me clear from Churchill's, for they seek
To round me up and kiss my face away!"

Pink turtles, stewed in syrup, singing fish,
Baked monkeys full of rabbits' feet, each paw
Crowded with eggplants! Bring the stem, Wah Kee—
And fix the yenhok for one glorious draw!
