A FOOL there was, and he made his prayer, (Even as you and I) To a home-run star who was called a bear The star who could slug the ball for fair But it came to a pinch, and he fanned the air! (Even as you and I!) The fool bought seats for the opening day, (Even as you and I.) And a terrible price he had to pay, But he coughed his cash, the deluded jay, And he learned that his home team couldn't play (Even as you and I!) The fool made bets and the fool went broke (Even as you and I.)
