ABSURD, by WILLIAM A. PHELON First Line: The fisher gives a mighty pull Last Line: A short cross-counter nails him! Subject(s): Humorists | |||
THE fisher gives a mighty pull, Enough to wreck a church He heaves and hauls, and then yanks in A sickly half-pound perch! The burly batsman swings in pride A section of a tree But just as he is set to smite, The umpire says, "Strike three!" The husky boxer tries the hook That never yet has failed him But, while his fist is in the air, A short cross-counter nails him! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...HUGH SELWYN MAUBERLEY: 8.
